Workers From Amazon, Walmart, FedEx and Others Plan Walkout May 1st for Hazard Pay and Better Safety Standards

Demonstrations are set for Friday, May 1st as workers seek better health and safety standards as well as hazard pay during the coronavirus pandemic.

Workers from Amazon, Walmart, FedEx, Whole Foods, Target, and Instacart plan to call in sick or step out during their lunch break.  Some union members are planning to join workers outside warehouses and storefronts to support the strikes.

Twitter user and former Amazon employee, Christian Smalls (@Shut_downAmazon) has been responsible for helping organize the strike.  Amazon alleges Smalls was fired from the company for returning to work despite having being told to quarantine himself after coming into contact with another worker that tested positive.  Smalls alleges unsafe working environments in Amazon facilities have infected thousands.
