Louisiana OMV Offices to Remain Closed Until Monday Due to Cyberattack

The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles will remain closed until Monday, November 25 while the OMV continues to recover from a cyberattack that occurred on Monday, November 18.

A ‘ransomware’ attack occurred earlier in the week, holding data hostage.  It’s not the first time Louisiana agencies have experienced such an attack.  Several computer systems throughout the state have been affected and there’s no estimate on when all will be fully functional.  According to the OMV, servers did not properly reboot, following Monday’s attack.  OMV offices will remain closed until Monday, November 25.

Governor John Bel Edwards said those that have a license expiring during the outage will not be fined.
