|Recurring Event (See all)
Every week until March 19, 2022
| Free

Lafayette Reads Together (LRT) has entered its eighth year as a community-wide reading program and you are invited to be a part of it. This annual event was created to bring our community together by reading, sharing, and discussing the same book. Free copies of the book will be available at all library locations, donated by the Lafayette Public Library Foundation.

The 2022 community read, Clues to the Universe by author Christina Li is her debut novel. On the surface, Rosalind Ling Geraghty and Benjamin Burns are completely different. Quiet and easygoing, artist Benji loves superheroes and comic books; Ro is an aspiring rocket scientist with a plan for everything. They share a common loss as both of their fathers are out of the picture. A mix-up in their middle school science class turns the unlikely pair into friends. Benji and Ro’s friendship is at the heart of this story as they face loss, uncertainty, bullying, and their own differences while trying to piece together clues to some of the biggest questions in the universe.

Join us for An Evening with Christina Li on Monday, March 7 at the Main Library (starting at 6:30 pm) where she will discuss her debut novel, Clues to the Universe. A running theme in the novel is that unexpected things may happen and, sometimes, difficult decisions need to be made to move forward. These decisions may seem scary, but having a friend to face them with makes it easier, and it’s that kind of friendship that is at the heart of this story. Ages 12 & up.

The community read will run January 24 through March 19 and will include film showings, presentations, programs for children, teens, and adults. Businesses and groups can join this effort simply by agreeing to have members read the book and distributing books to employees or host programs.
