Steve Gleason Will Receive Congressional Gold Medal in January

U.S. Senator, Bill Cassidy has announced the day that former New Orleans Saint and ALS advocate, Steve Gleason will receive the Congressional Gold Medal.

Gleason was diagnosed with ALS in January of 2011 and since then has become a leader in the fight against the disease.  His charity has provided nearly $10 million in research as well as technology and care services for those afflicted with the disease.

The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest honor Congress can bestow on a civilian.  Cassidey announced that the ceremony will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2020 in the United States Capitol.
