Officials confirm 5 fatalities with several additional victims transported to area hospitals.
The National Transportation Safety Board confirms that the plane was attempting to make an emergency landing after taking off from the Lafayette airport. The flight plan had the plane heading to Atlanta. It has been conformed that the passengers were to attend the Peach Bowl game this afternoon.
Multiple news sources have verified that one of the fatalities is Carley McCord, daughter-in -law of LSU offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger.
