Saturday, September 14th will be a big day for the City of Eunice as it is celebrating its 125th anniversary! Many activities are going on Saturday including the opening of their Centennial Time Capsule, local cajun and zydeco music, and cook-off, food booths, food trucks, arts and crafts, and a car show.
Eunice will also honor Mary Alice Fontenot, a Eunice resident who wrote about the adventures of ‘Clovis Crawfish’ in popular children’s books. Fontenot wrote about Clovis from 1961 until her death in 2003 at the age of 93. The highlight of the 125th celebration is the unveiling of a Clovis Crawfish Statue in honor of Mrs. Fontenot.
