Thomas Boone Pickens died of natural causes today at age 91, surrounded by family and friends. The legendary executive and entrepreneur was as well known for his philanthropy as well as for his industry.
His charitable giving has been estimated at well over $1 billion, including $ 7 million donated to the Hurricane Katrina Relief effort. In 2005 Pickens even chartered airplanes to transport dogs rescued from New Orleans floodwaters.
Pickens left an indelible mark on American Industry and will be remembered as generous and innovative.
