Select Schools Vote Against Playing in the Superdome

The LHSAA has announced that select schools have voted against participating in the All-State Sugar Bowl Prep Championships held annually at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

54% of select schools voted against the offer to play the championships in “the dome” this year.  Every school in each division had to vote in favor of the offer in order to play in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.  LHSAA President, Bruce Bundy, said he wasn’t surprised.

“Realistically, it is hard to get 100 percent of people to agree on anything, which is what was required here. But I am hopeful that we can move forward and make this a one-year deal. Our objective now should be to work together on something that can bring the schools back together in January.” – Bruce Bundy

Non-select title games will still be played in the dome.  Select schools will more-than-likely choose between one of three college sites:  Cajun Field in Lafayette, Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, and Strawberry Stadium in Hammond.
