Apple Watch’s “Fall Detection” Helps Save Man’s Life

Gabe Burdett of Spokane, Washington credits the Apple Watch’s fall detection feature with saving his father’s life.

Gabe says he was supposed to meet up with his dad to go mountain biking at Riverside State Park but got a notification from his father’s Apple Watch saying it detected a hard fall and gave a map to the location.  When Gabe arrived at the location, his father was gone, but he received another message from the watch saying his father was at a local hospital.

Gabe’s father had hit his head and was knocked out, but the watch was able to call 911 and give the emergency crew his location.  Gabe said the crew arrived to pick up his father and transfer him to the hospital all in less than 30-minutes.

Gabe says his father is doing great and recommends people with an Apple Watch enable the fall detection setting.
