A few participating 7-Eleven stores in New York City are now using a mobile self-checkout system that allows customers to use their mobile phones to make a purchase before exiting the store without ever having to interact with a cashier.
Here’s how it works:
The customer scans the bar code on the item using the 7-Eleven mobile app to make a purchase.
A QR code is then given on the app that the customer scans at a ‘confirmation station’ so that the store knows the customer is not shoplifting
