New Orleans Pelicans Win First Overall NBA Draft Pick

The New Orleans Pelicans scored the No. 1 pick at last night’s NBA draft lottery, despite entering Tuesday with just a 6% chance of winning.

The Pelicans beat out 13 other NBA teams hoping to draft the freshman sensation from Duke, Zion Williamson. The New York Knicks were tied with the Cleveland Cavs and Phoenix Suns with a 14% chance to land the number one pick! This is New Orleans’ first No. 1 pick since they drafted Anthony Davis in 2012.

David Griffin, the Pelicans’ executive vice president of basketball operations, told reporters “We have a lot of work to do. This will certainly jump-start the process.” “I look at this as a situation where (Zion) is a wholly and unique talent. And we feel what we’re going to build is going to be wholly and unique as well. Hopefully all of this sort of comes to a place where we all feel like we’re meant to be together.”

There was much reaction among NBA fans, but what about the reaction at the New Orleans Pelicans Ticket Office?

With landing the first pick in the draft, one would think Anthony Davis would change his mind and want to stay in New Orleans, but according to reports, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
