Robert F. Smith, the founder and CEO of the private equity firm Vista Equity Partners. Last year, “Forbes” ranked Smith as the 163rd richest person in America, worth about $4.4 billion. This year Robert’s fortune is up to $5 billion.
Recently, Smith donated $1.5 million to Morehouse College in Atlanta, but yesterday made a decision to donate more! During the 2019 commencement for 400 graduation seniors, Morehouse honored Robert with an honorary doctorate. It was during his speech when he made the announcement!
Robert Smith announced that he is paying off the student loans of the entire graduating class!. As expected, the crowd went wild when he made the announcement. According to one estimate, the donation will get rid of nearly $40 million dollars of student debt.
This is the largest single donation Morehouse College has ever been associated with. Congratulations to the Class of 2019!
