New In Theaters This Weekend (2-8-2019)

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part  (PG)  Trailer

This movie, directed by Mike Mitchell, takes place five years after the first one.  Finn’s little sister Bianca swipes some of his toys to play with in her room.  So his LEGO universe is now a post-apocalyptic wasteland where the citizens live in fear of being captured by alien invaders.

Stephanie Beatriz from “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” kidnaps Batman to take him to her planet to marry her Queen, Tiffany Haddish.  Emmett’s girlfriend is also taken, so he builds a spaceship to rescue her and all of the other people who were captured.

Chris Pratt is back as Emmett, Elizabeth Banks is Lucy, and Will Arnett is Batman.  The rest of the cast includes Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Jonah Hill as Green Lantern, Channing Tatum as Superman, and Cobie Smulders as Wonder Woman.

BeckRobyn and the Lonely Island did the song Super Cool from the end credits.  And if you want to annoy your parents (or children), play them the Catchy Song . . . a song from the new movie that’s “guaranteed” to get stuck inside yo’ head.

What Men Want  (R)  Trailer

Taraji P. Henson plays a sports agent who gets passed over for a promotion, and told by her boss that the reason is because she has trouble connecting with men.

After a series of random events that includes a psychic, some drugs, and an ugly bump on the head, she wakes up with the ability to hear men’s thoughts . . . sort of like Mel Gibson did 18 years ago in “What Women Want”.

The rest of the cast includes Tracy MorganAldis Hodge, and Richard Roundtree.

Cold Pursuit  (R)  Trailer

How many of you are going to boycott this movie because of Liam Neeson’s disturbing confession earlier this week?  I’d be shocked if this movie doesn’t crash and burn, given how poorly he choose to promote it.

But for those of you who do care, Liam Neeson plays a snow plow driver who gets revenge on the drug cartel who killed his son.  Liam’s actual son Michael Richardson plays his son in the movie.  And Emmy Rossum is a cop investigating the killings.

The Prodigy  (R)  Trailer

A horror movie that stars Taylor Schilling from “Orange is the New Black” as a proud mother who becomes terrified of her young son’s increasingly violent behavior.
