You are invited to a Saturday morning disaster response training at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Saturday, August 31st, 2024. This session is designed to equip volunteers with the skills and knowledge to effectively assist our neighbors during times of disaster. The event will begin at 7:30 AM with the celebration of Holy Mass, followed at 8:00 AM by an overview of the Church's critical role in disaster response. The training will then move into practical sessions, where volunteers will learn essential skills such as disaster assessments, mucking and gutting homes, applying tarps on rooftops, and the safe use of chainsaws and essential machinery. These skills are crucial for effective disaster relief, ensuring our efforts are compassionate, safe, and effective.
