Get ready to see the northern lights! A geomagnetic storm is expected to create a highly active auroral display in Bay City, Michigan on July 13. The best time to view the lights will be between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. local time. The northern lights, also known as the aurora borealis, are an astronomical phenomenon caused by solar winds and Earth’s magnetic field. This is not the first time this year that the lights have been visible, as they were seen in 30 U.S. states in late April.
