Thanksgiving can be a dangerous time for pets, as many of the foods commonly enjoyed during the holiday can be harmful to cats and dogs. Cooked bones, onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, fatty foods, yeast dough, dairy products, chocolate, nuts, and certain plants and flowers can all pose a risk to pets. It’s important to keep these foods out of reach and educate guests about the dangers. Instead, offer pets plain, unseasoned, skinless, cooked lean meat, plain cooked vegetables, plain pumpkin, fresh cranberries, and apple slices or plain raw or cooked carrots as safe alternatives.
