FIFA has confirmed that the inaugural Women’s Club World Cup will be held in January and February 2026, marking a significant milestone for women’s club football globally. The 16-team tournament will take place every four years, strategically scheduled during the European domestic season. Teams like Barcelona, NY Gotham FC, and Corinthians are expected to compete in the prestigious event. The announcement was made during the FIFA Congress in Bangkok, where plans for a new international match calendar were also approved to enhance player welfare and performance. This initiative aligns with FIFA’s goal to elevate the visibility and competitiveness of club football, including both men’s and women’s games.
