St. Joseph Diner Volunteer Shifts Full for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

From Catholic Charities of Acadiana

LAFAYETTE – All breakfast and lunchtime volunteer shifts at St. Joseph Diner are full for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. While the Diner staff appreciates the willingness of volunteers to serve those in need during this holiday season, St. Joseph Diner will not be able to accommodate any additional volunteers during the lunch shift on Thanksgiving day. Individuals interested in volunteering on other days can sign up for available shifts here. For a full list of current needs, click here.

St. Joseph Diner serves those experiencing hunger 365 days a year, including Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Please note that media opportunities will not be available on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Please contact Ben Broussard with interest in producing a story prior to Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Due to the nature of our programs, filming of Diner patrons will not be allowed. We encourage you to use B-roll from previous years when reporting on St. Joseph Diner operations. With your cooperation in this effort, Christmas can remain a meaningful experience for the community that gathers at St. Joseph Diner.

St. Joseph Diner is a program of Catholic Charities of Acadiana. Catholic Charities of Acadiana cares for the sacred gift of all human life, especially the most vulnerable. St. Joseph Diner serves 2,800+ meals per week to those who are experiencing hunger in Acadiana. In 2022, St. Joseph Diner has served over 145,000 meals to our neighbors who lacked access to a hot meal. Catholic Charities of Acadiana operates thirteen programs that serve those currently experiencing homelessness, hunger and poverty in Acadiana. Since 1973, its programs have represented a response to the Gospel call to carry out the corporal works of mercy: feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, offering hospitality to the homeless, caring for the sick, visiting the imprisoned and burying the dead.
