Lorne Michaels Considering Retirement From ‘SNL’ Lorne Michaels, the co-creator of SNL, is contemplating retirement from the late-night comedy sketch show. 

 
 

“I’m committed to doing this show until its 50th anniversary, which is in three years,” said Michaels during an interview with CBS: This Morning.

 
 

“I’d like to see that through, and I have a feeling that’d be a really good time to leave.”

 
 

Michael’s echoed the same sentiment in October of last year while talking with NBC’s Today.

 
 

Saturday Night Live has seen consistently decreasing ratings over the last few seasons, with the latest episodes often reaching new record lows.
