Acadia Parish Deputies Track Suspect to Austin

On November 6, 2021, deputies were contacted regarding a suspicious circumstance in western Acadia Parish off Bamboo Road. The caller advised deputies that they had not heard from a family member since the evening of November 2. Deputies searched a field area where the family member was last seen with her son on November 2. As deputies searched the site, they located the family member deceased with trauma to the facial area.

Investigators determined that the Victim’s son had left Louisiana and traveled to Austin County, Texas, with a family member on November 5. Investigators then traveled to Austin County, Texas, and met with the Austin County Sheriff’s Office. As deputies arrived at the location where the suspect was staying, the suspect fled the residence. Deputies began their search for the suspect, who was located not far from the residence. He was taken into custody on a second-degree murder warrant issued in Acadia Parish.

The suspect was booked into the Austin County Jail on the second-degree murder warrant. He will be extradited to Acadia Parish on these charges and other outstanding warrants from Acadia Parish. Sheriff K.P. Gibson stated:

“I appreciate the hard work of our deputies in this case. I also would like Sheriff Jack Brandes and his staff who did not hesitate to assist in the capture of this murder suspect. I thank the entire Austin County Sheriff’s Office for their efforts”
