La. State Fire Marshall Butch Browning met with two of the three injured firefighters from the New Iberia Fire Department. The visit brought Driver Isaac Zamora and Capt. Gary Simone together for the first time since the fire and subsequent explosion last month.
Chief Browning thanked them for their service and sacrifice with an agency challenge coin, pin, and patches and encouraged them to share their experiences with others in the fire service in hopes of improving training and preparation for unthinkable incidents like theirs. The State Fire Marshall wishes all three men continued success in recovering and returning to the fire service.
