In a statement from DMX’s family, the iconic rapper has died.
He was 50 years old.
According to officials, DMX suffered a heart attack due to an overdose. He was rushed to the hospital a week ago and placed on life support after going without oxygen for almost 30 minutes. The statement said in part,
“we are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50 years old….Earl was a warrior who fought til the very end.”
The family asks for privacy and says they will share information about his memorial service once details are finalized.
