Elon Musk says a Neuralink implant is making it possible for a monkey to play video games with its mind.
Tesla CEO, Musk has been pioneering a project called Neuralink, which is a tiny implant that attaches to the brain to form a brain-computer interface. The project began in 2017 and the company has been doing experiments on monkeys.
“We have a monkey with a wireless implant in their skull with tiny wires who can play video games with his mind,” Musk said in a Clubhouse chatroom. “You can’t see where the implant is and he’s a happy monkey. We have the nicest money facilities in the world. We want them to play mind-Pong with each other.”
Musk described the Nueralink implant as a type of “Fitbit in your skull with tiny wires that go into your brain.” He says the goal of Nueralink is to address brain and spinal injuries.
Musk said videos of the monkeys would be released in about a month.
