Gov. John Bel Edwards Moves Louisiana Back to ‘Modified Phase 2’

On Tuesday, Louisiana Governor Jon Bel Edwards has announced that the state will take a step back to a ‘modified Phase 2’ as another surge in coronavirus cases has emerged.

 
 

The new restrictions limit gatherings to 75 outdoors and 150 indoors. Restaurants, retailers, and other businesses will move back from 75% occupancy to 50%. Bars in parishes with over 5% test positivity must close to indoor consumption unless they have a restaurant conditional permit, in which case they can operate at 50%.
 
 
Only a few parishes have low enough positivity rates to keep bars open. Parishes such as Lafayette, Jefferson, and East Baton Rouge have a positivity rate that has climbed higher than 5%.
