Twitter Locks Official Trump Campaign Account

Twitter has suspended the official account of the Trump campaign.

On Thursday, just 19 days before Election Day, Twitter suspended the campaign’s official account after a tweet that called the Democratic presidential nominee, Joe Biden, a liar.  The campaign tweet in question read:

“Joe Biden is a liar who has been ripping off our country for years.”

The tweet linked to a video about the New York Posts‘ story of leaked emails that suggests Joe Biden was involved in his son Hunter’s Ukrainian business dealings, despite claiming that he never talked to Hunter about his business dealings.  The emails published by the New York Post suggests that then-Vice President, Joe Biden met with a top executive of the Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings in 2015.  The emails also appear to show an executive asking Hunter Biden on how they can use his influence politically.

While the video is still visible on President Trump’s own Twitter account, the campaign tweet has been taken down, suggesting that it’s the text of the tweet that caused the violation.  Twitter claims the violation involved posting private information about someone. It’s not clear what “private information,” if any, was shared in the tweet.

“This is chilling censorship of a sitting President’s re-election campaign 19 days from an election, plain and simple,” Andrew Clark, Trump campaign Rapid Response Director told Fox News. “Twitter is interfering in the election and trying to stop the public from learning damning information about the Biden family’s corruption at all cost, but our campaign and our supporters will not be silenced.”

Twitter also blocked White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany for sharing the New York Post report on Hunder Biden on her personal account. Yesterday, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey apologized for Twitter’s blocking of the New York Post article with “zero context” and called it “unacceptable.”

The New York Post has stood by their story and also complained about big tech censorship.
