A “Smokey and the Bandit” TV Show is in the Works

The classic, “Smokey and the Bandit” came out 43 years ago, now it is in the works to be revived as a TV show.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the show will be developed by Seth MacFarlane from “Family Guy” as well as David Gordon Green, Danny McBride, and the creative team that worked on HBO‘s “Eastbound & Down” about fictional professional baseball player Kenny Powers’ fall from grace.

Coincidentally, “East Bound and Down” is the “Smokey and the Bandit” theme song.

It’s unclear how much the TV show will draw from the movie.

Burt Reynolds passed away in 2018, and Jackie GleasonJerry ReedPat McCormick, and “Fred” the Basset Hound are no longer with us.  Of course, Sally Field is still around.
