Kobalt Battery-Powered Chainsaw Recall

Kobalt is recalling 150,000 40-volt battery-powered chainsaws because the saw can remain on while the power is switched off.

The problem stems from contacts on the saw’s power switch welding together, allowing the saw to remain on even when the tool is switched to the off position.  Kobalt has received 48 reports of the problem, but have not received any reports of injuries.

The particular model being recalled is a 40-volt battery-powered saw with a 12-inch cutting bar.  The model number is KCS 120, also sold in a configuration that included a battery and charger with model number KCS 120-07.

Consumers should stop using the chainsaw immediately and contact Kobalt to schedule a repair.
