The Lafayette Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday in the 1500 block of Louisiana Avenue.

On June 5, 2020 at approximately 9:30 pm, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to a call where the driver of a vehicle had been shot.
The victim was driving through the parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 1500 Blk of Louisiana Ave. As he crossed another vehicle traveling the opposite, the suspect shot several times into the victim’s vehicle.
The victim was struck once in the wrist and crashed into a dumpster that was in the parking lot.
Once on scene, officers located the victim suffering from a single gunshot wound.
The victim was treated for a non-life threatening injury by medical personnel, and transported to a local hospital shortly thereafter.
The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
This investigation is ongoing.
