LCG Recognizes State Mask Mandate

Lafayette Consolidated Government released a statement on Monday recognizing the state mandate on masks.

 
 

“Lafayette Consolidated Government recognizes that the Governor has issued a statewide mask mandate for individuals when inside a commercial establishment or any other building or public space open to the public, whether indoor or outdoor. Lafayette Police and Fire Departments are continuing compliance checks on local businesses and issuing warnings to those not in compliance. If a business is reported or found in violation a second time, the business is referred to the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Louisiana Department of health for enforcement.”

 
 

A later press release also stated that:

 
 

“Lafayette Police and Fire Departments are continuing compliance checks on local businesses and issuing warnings to those not in compliance. The departments will continue to ensure masks are worn by employers and employees, and will now ensure that businesses are requiring patrons wear masks as well.”

 
 

Businesses found to be not in compliance will be warned on the first occurrence, after a second occurrence, the business will be referred to the State Fire Marshal for further action.

 
 

Lafayette Consolidated Government is providing free cloth face masks to Lafayette Parish citizens while supplies last. Distribution points include City Parish Hall and Lafayette Public Library while supplies last.
