Former Ragin’ Cajun Turns in Cleats For Plow

Former Ragin Cajun Baseball standout, Blake Trahan, announced he is hanging up his cleats.

Trahan played 15 games for the Cincinnati Reds in 2018. He was at Spring Training with the team in March when the camps shuttered because of COVID-19—intending to return to the game. He was continuing workouts at home and staying in shape.

When the call to return did come but along with the announcement that Minor League Baseball will stay shuttered in 2020. Trahan decided to retire. He says about his professional career.

“It was surreal, really was a dream come true, something I will always remember. I will miss baseball and miss the people the most. There is nothing like being on a team, having a common goal, and going out to try to win games together.”

What does the future hold for Blake Trahan? Trahan, who grew up around the Kinder area of southwest Louisiana, plans to work in regenerative agriculture, a technique that regenerates the soil.
