Thieves in South Africa tunneled into a liquor store and stole $18,000 worth of liquor.
Due to the coronavirus lockdown, alcohol sales have been banned in many places, creating a black market with booze selling for up to 10-times its price. Authorities say a trio of thieves were caught on security camera tunneling into a liquor store in South Africa and stealing $18,000 worth of liquor. The thieves allegedly accessed electrical and stormwater drain tunnels under the store before cutting through the Shoprite’s concrete floor.
The store was stocked up in anticipation of customers returning as restrictions eased in the region but now may not reopen because of the theft.
