Joe Rogan Experience Podcast Moves to Spotify with Deal Worth Over $100 Million

The Joe Rogan Experience podcast will soon be a Spotify exclusive on a deal worth over $100 million.

The incredibly popular JRE podcast garners massive traffic on video streaming website YouTube and the audio version is downloaded nearly 200 million times per month, making the comic’s show the premier podcast on the internet.  The current set up had the Joe Rogan Experience making about $30 million annually.

On Tuesday, Joe Rogan announced that his podcast will become a Spotify exclusive.

Announcement: the podcast is moving to @spotify! Starting on September 1 the podcast will be available on Spotify as well as all platforms, and then at the end of the year it will move exclusively to Spotify, including the video version. It will remain FREE, and it will be the exact same show. It’s just a licensing deal, so Spotify won’t have any creative control over the show. They want me to just continue doing it the way I’m doing it right now. We will still have clips up on YouTube but full versions of the show will only be on Spotify after the end of the year. I’m excited to have the support of the largest audio platform in the world and I hope you folks are there when we make the switch!

YouTube will no longer be able to host full episodes, though there are already a few channels that host some of the most popular clips of Rogan’s podcast.  The video streaming giant has come under considerable criticism in recent months over its censorship policies.  Those criticisms could be one of the reasons Rogan chose to make the move.  Another reason could simply be the cash as the deal is reportedly worth over $100 million.

The podcast will be available on Spotify starting on September 1st, 2020 and will move exclusively to Spotify at the end of the year.  A video version will also be available on Spotify and the show will remain free.  According to Rogan, Spotify will not have any creative control over the show.
