In a press conference in St. Martin Parish, Parish President Chester Cedars, and Dr. Tina Stefanski announced that 3-people in St. Martin Parish have died after contracting the COVID-19 virus.
While the details are few at the moment, it was announced that as of Friday, there have been 11 confirmed cases in the parish and 3 deaths. Ages of those deceased are listed as 41, 70, & 89. One of the deaths was reported in Breaux Bridge.
Cedars implored people to stay home unless it was essential for them to leave. Dr. Stefanski insinuated that the virus is community-spread in the parish and more deaths are anticipated in Acadiana.
