A unanimous vote on the draft sent the proposal to the Common Council. The ordinance aims to discourage bullying and harassment for children under the age of 18. Fines levied on the parent could serve as
“a wake-up call to parents.” – Wisconsin Rapids Police Chief, Ermin Blevins
On first offense, parents of the child would be fined $50, but with additional costs, the total would be about $313.
