Thanks to Shaquille O’Neal, Lafayette High School’s Mighty Lions will be working out in a new, state-of-the-art weight room. Wednesday morning, staff was busy assembling the new equipment after it arrived on site.
According to The Daily Advertiser, the Lafayette Parish School Board had committed to matching funding for the weight room at $21,000. The total project was around the $40,000 mark. Basketball star Shaquille O’Neal stepped in to fill the budget gap.
“If we didn’t have Shaq step in to help us, it would have been another two years for us to raise the money,” – LHS head football coach Rob Pool.
