|Recurring Event (See all)
Every day until March 14, 2021
| Free

Lafayette Reads Together is entering its seventh year as a community-wide reading program and you are invited to be a part of it. This annual event was created to get our community reading, sharing, and discussing the same book. Free copies of the book will be available at all library branches, donated by the Lafayette Public Library Foundation, beginning Tuesday, January 19.

The 2021 book selection is Haben, The Deafblind Woman Who Conquered Harvard Law. She is a disability rights lawyer, author, and speaker. Haben was listed on Forbes 30 Under 30 list, received the 2018 Hellen Keller Achievement Award, and named a White House Champion of Change by former President Barack Obama.

The community read takes place January 19 through March 14 and will include book discussions and LRT-related programs for adults and teens online and throughout the community. Lafayette Reads Together is sponsored by the Lafayette Public Library Foundation. Community partners include the Lafayette Parish School System, Lafayette Consolidated Government, Acadiana Center for the Arts, Affiliated Blind of Louisiana, Families Helping Families, United Way of Acadiana, LUS Fiber, Lafayette Utilities System, AOC Community Media, Addis NOLA, Basin Arts, Edith Garland Dupré Library, Hilliard Art Museum, and South Louisiana Community College.
