The Lafayette Animal Shelter & Care Center will join more than 300 shelters across 38 states to help pets find loving homes through reduced adoption fees of $70 or less\, generously sponsored by BISSELL Pet Foundation. \nLASCC will participate October 1-15 at 410 N Dugas Rd.\, offering free adoptions for dogs and cats. All adopted pets will be fully vaccinated\, microchipped\, and spayed/neutered. DESCRIPTION:The Lafayette Public Library is proud to announce a new collection of online resources for patrons: Gale Databases. \nAfter budgetary cuts made by the State Library removed the suite of EBSCO databases for Lafayette and other public libraries in Louisiana\, LPL was able to continue meeting the needs of patrons by adding a new group of online resources from Gale that will replace the EBSCO databases. \nGale Databases include a variety of over 50 comprehensive resources\, including Academic OneFile (which provides millions of articles from over 19\,000 scholarly journals)\, Business: Entrepreneurship (which covers all aspects of starting and operating a business)\, Peterson’s Test and Career Prep (which provides test prep resources for a variety of standardized exams) and so much more! \nOther databases include Chilton Online Auto Repair Manuals\, Gale Health and Wellness\, Gale Legal Forms\, and a suite of In Context resources for students that range in scope from Biography to Science to History\, and more. In Context also provides a database aimed at elementary students\, as well as one for middle school students\, catering to their specific educational needs and interests. \nFor a full list of the new Gale Databases\, visit LafayettePublicLibrary.org and click on Digital Library and Databases\, then filter the search by Vendor (Gale).

DESCRIPTION:Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Parks\, Arts\, Recreation\, and Culture (PARC) Department is proud to continue its Therapeutic Recreation Program\, designed to provide inclusive recreational and leisure activities for post-secondary teens and adults of all ages with disabilities. \nFrom August through May\, participants can enjoy a variety of free activities tailored to promote fitness\, creativity\, social interaction\, and community engagement at Girard Park (500 Girard Park Drive\, Lafayette). \nCurrent Therapeutic Recreation offerings include: \n\nPark Pacers Walking Program: An inclusive walking group for individuals with disabilities\, meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30–10:30 a.m. at the Girard Park Walking Track. No registration is required—just show up and join the fun!\nFun & Fitness: An accessible\, supportive exercise class focused on improving fitness\, balance\, and flexibility. Offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30–11:30 a.m. in the Girard Park Recreation Center’s Cypress Room.\nArts & Crafts: A monthly creative workshop with seasonal and holiday themes\, often featuring edible art. Space is limited\, so RSVP by calling or texting 337-344-9349. Held the first Thursday of each month from 12:30–2:00 p.m. in the Oak Room at the Girard Park Recreation Center.\nBingo: A lively social gathering offering a fun afternoon of Bingo for individuals with disabilities. Held the third Thursday of each month from 12:30–2:00 p.m. in the Cypress Room at the Girard Park Recreation Center.\n\nTherapeutic Recreation Instructor Tammy Richard at 337-344-9349.

DESCRIPTION:Empty the Shelters event runs October 1-15. The Lafayette Animal Shelter & Care Center will join more than 300 shelters across 38 states to help pets find loving homes through reduced adoption fees of $70 or less\, generously sponsored by BISSELL Pet Foundation. \nLASCC will participate October 1-15 at 410 N Dugas Rd.\, offering free adoptions for dogs and cats. All adopted pets will be fully vaccinated\, microchipped\, and spayed/neutered. Visit lafayettela.gov/lascc to view adoptable pets and learn more. \nLASCC will be open for the free adoption event from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
