Area Schools in Compete in Baseball Playoff

The LHSAA released its Baseball playoff rankings on Sunday. Several area teams are hoping to punch reservations in Sulphur at McMurry Park from May 11th – May 14th.

 
 

In 5A on the Non-Select side of the bracket Acadiana will host West Ouachita and Lafayette High will be on the road for first-round games with the Lions heading to Haughton. In 4A four Acadiana teams have punched their tickets to the playoffs. Breaux Bridge will host Leesville, Carencro will host its first playoff game in program history against Belle Chasse, Rayne will host Pearl River at Legion Field in Rayne, and Eunice will host Northwood Shreveport in first-round games. In 3A several Acadiana teams will keep the diamonds busy in Acadiana, Crowley travels to Buckeye in Deville, Erath travels to Grant, Iota plays hosts to Albany, Church Point travels to Westlake, while Jennings plays host to Union Parish, Kaplan travels to Pine Prairie and St. Martinville travels to South Beauregard. In 2A, Delcambre makes a trip to Port Barre, and Lake Arthur travels to Avoyelles Public Charter. In 1A, The Gueydan Bears have a bye in the first round and will face Oberlin in the second round.

 
 

The Select side of the bracket is dominated by familiar names once again this year. Teurlings will be at home against Lusher while STM will host St Michael in a best of three series. Three Acadiana teams will compete in Division III, Notre Dame gets a bye and awaits the winner of Pope John Paul and Menard next weekend at Historic Miller Stadium. LCA will host Cristo Rey of Baton Rouge in a best of three series while Catholic of New Iberia will face Dunham in the first round. In Division IV, Episcopal of Acadiana will travel to Grace Christian, while Northside Christian will play next week against Family Community, both series will be best of three.
