After a lengthy diligent debate, the Carencro Mardi Gras Association met on Wednesday night and decided they would cancel the annual parade that rolls the Saturday before a week before Mardi Gras. The parade now joins Youngsville and Scott in the list of canceled parades for the upcoming carnival season.
The Carencro Mardi Gras Association has seen exponential growth over the last 15 years since moving from the Sunday before Mardi Gras to the Saturday before to moving a week ahead of Mardi Gras and holding the honor of being the first Mardi Gras Parade each year in Lafayette Parish.
The Krewe of Carencro had announced earlier this year that royalty will serve a second year and cancellation of the 2021 Ball.
