Dolly Parton brought Stephen Colbert to tears during her appearance on “The Late Show” Tuesday night.
The 74-year-old country legend appeared on the show to promote her new book “Songteller: My Life in Lyrics” and sang “Bury Me Beneath The Willow,” and the host began to tear up.
“I better hush before you cry yourself to death and we can’t finish the show,” Parton said before cutting the song short.
Colbert responded:
“Like a lot of Americans, I’m under a lot of stress right now, Dolly. And, uh, you got under my tripwire right there, I’ll tell you right there…that was pretty beautiful.”
