The Faneuil Hall bar and restaurant has announced it will be closing after 20 years due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Cheers at Faneuil Hall and Marketplace is a replica of the bar from the Cheers sitcom which ran on NBC from 1982 to 1993. The bar from the intro of the show was actually the Bull & Finch Pub on Beacon Street, which actually looked nothing inside like the television show. The replica bar was built to look exactly like the iconic set and even featured memorabilia from the show.
According to WBZ in Boston, the coronavirus outbreak and lack of assistance from the marketplace’s landlord led to the decision.
BREAKING: After 20 years in business, Cheers at Faneuil Hall will be closing for good at the end of the month.
President & CEO, Chef Markus Ripperger, tells #WBZ the COVID-19 pandemic and a lack of assistance from the marketplace's landlord played into the decision.
