Will Lafayette Students Graduate?

The recent spike in positive Covid-19 cases and increased hospitalizations in Acadiana have forced State Fire Marshal, Butch Browning to notify the Lafayette Parish School System that graduation ceremonies may be limited to a 250 person attendance limit.

The School System responded and is working on alternative plans that will be communicated to the graduates and their families.

“The Lafayette Parish School System was informed this afternoon that graduation ceremonies planned for this week can no longer be held at the Cajundome. While this news is disappointing, district staff is working on an alternative plan to celebrate our graduating seniors. The commencement ceremonies will still take place this week and an updated plan will be released as soon as the details are finalized.”
