Mike Tyson to Fight Roy Jones Jr. in Comeback Exhibition

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr will be squaring off in an 8-round exhibition match.

Boxing legend “Iron” Mike Tyson has been training hard for his comeback over the past few months.  Videos of Tyson training have gone viral on the internet as it looks like the 54-year-old is in great shape and still has a significant amount of speed.  The gurus of the fight game will tell you, power is the last thing to go.

According to TMZ, Mike Tyson will take on another boxing great in his 50’s, Roy Jones Jr.  The bout will be an 8-round exhibition sanctioned by the California State Athletic Commission and is scheduled for September 12th, 2020.  The event will be called “Frontline Battle” and will feature other boxers and MMA fighters on the card available on Pay-Per-View and the social media platform, Triller.

Tyson hasn’t had a pro fight since June 2005 and admitted his heart was no longer into boxing during his last few bouts.  51-year-old Roy Jones Jr. most recently fought in February 2018.  While Tyson’s career was at heavyweight (where he became the youngest heavyweight champion in the world), Roy Jones Jr.’s career spanned multiple weight classes, where he held titles in the middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight divisions.

Tyson has said he wants to get back into the ring to help raise money for charity.
