LHSAA: No Football Until Phase 4

On Monday, the Louisiana High School Athletics Association announced that the high school football season will not be allowed to take place until the state enters Phase 4 of coronavirus recovery.

LHSAA Executive Director Eddie Bonine made the announcement when speaking to the State House Education Committee.  Bonine said playing without fans is a possibility, but could be a hardship for many schools.  While the LHSAA doesn’t plan to cancel fall sports seasons, Bonine said there are certain things that can and cannot take place during the different phases of reopening Louisiana.

Football practices and games can not begin until Louisiana enters Phase 4, although 7-on-7 limited contract drills are allowed under Phase 3.

Louisiana remains in Phase 2 of reopening until at least July 24th.
