Amazon has engaged in talks to buy self-driving-car company, Zoox, Inc.
While an agreement may be weeks away, sources say the deal would value Zoox at less than the $3.2 billion it achieved in a 2018 funding round. The move would expand Amazon’s reach into self-driving-vehicle technology and breath new life into the former high-profile startup.
In a statement, Zoox said that it “has been receiving interest in a strategic transaction from multiple parties and has been working with Qatalyst Partners to evaluate such interest.”
Amazon invested Aurora Innovation in 2019 as well as electric-car maker, Rivivian Automotive LLC.
