U.S. Troops Begin Withdrawal from Afghanistan

Amerian troops began withdrawing from Afghanistan on Tuesday as part of a peace deal signed with the Taliban in February.

The United States has begun its conditions-based reduction of troops of 8,600 over 135 days.  The Taliban’s part of the deal requires them to help stop terror in Afghanistan.  The U.S. currently has 13,000 troops in Afghanistan, 8,000 are involved in training the country’s National Security Forces.  The other 5,000 are involved in anti-terror operations.
