The 28-year-old suspect turned herself in to the Lafayette Police Department, but due to circumstances pertaining to COVID-19, an arrest warrant has been issued for Felony Hit & Run with Death and the arrest is pending. Lafayette Police are looking for a female suspect in connection to a fatal hit and run that occurred Sunday night.

 
 

 
 

On March 29, 2020, at approximately 10:00 pm, Lafayette Police responded to a local convenient store in the 800 block of N. University Ave. in reference to a hit & run.

 
 

Officers located the victim, 45-year-old Jason Francis (B/M) of Lafayette in the parking lot suffering from injuries sustained after a vehicle struck him. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Surveillance video revealed a female driving a white-colored SUV, possibly a Dodge Journey, striking the victim with her vehicle then fleeing the scene. The female was seen wearing a black shirt with “Nike” written in white, grey sweat pants and sandals.

 
 

 
 

On March 30, 2020, Mr. Francis succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

 
 


 
 

If anyone can identify the female suspect please call Lafayette Police or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS. The accident remains to be under investigation by the Lafayette Police Traffic Unit.
