A Lafayette Middle School teacher has self-quarantined out of an abundance of caution over concerns of the coronavirus outbreak.
The teacher had traveled abroad and made the decision to self-quarantine. However, Lafayette Parish School Systems officials say the teacher had been on campus and in the classroom since returning.
Students were moved to another classroom and the teacher’s classroom will be disinfected. The teacher has not been experiencing any symptoms, but will follow the CDC’s recommendation of a 14-day quarantine and will not return until cleared by medical professionals.
No confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported in Louisiana.
