$2 Trillion Coronavirus Stimulus Bill Passes House Despite Massie’s Demand for Roll-Call

On Friday, the House finally passed the $2 trillion coronavirus economic stimulus bill.

The bill will head to President Donald Trump‘s desk and he’s expected to sign it quickly.  However, the passage was not without controversy.  Democratic and Republican leaders called House members to Washington because they feared the package would not be able to pass by voice vote due to a few outspoken representatives, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY and Thomas Massie, R-KY. Massie aimed for more than a simple voice vote. He pushed for a quorum, which would require half of the members to show up on Capitol Hill.

Despite Massie’s demand for a roll-coll, which would delay the process even longer, House leaders thwarted the request which lacked support from other members.

The bill’s passage in the House came after a three-hour debate.
