RECALL: Ford F-150 Pickup Trucks for Bright Headlights

Ford is recalling over 217,000 F-150 pickup trucks because their headlights may be too bright.

The recall is for F-150s from the 2018 through 2020 model years that are equipped with optional LED headlights.  The bright headlights lights could reduce the visibility of other drivers.  Ford claims the issue is with the headlight switch software, which fails when drivers turn on their low-beam headlights manually, causing low-beam lights and daytime run lights to both be illuminated at the same time.  The problem does not occur if the switch is left in the “Auto” position.
